Into a time of rest

Learning to rest, and relax is one of the key practises we can learn or deepen into at any stage or phase of life, but especially in winter, and against a hectic, yet festive back drop it’s so importnat to grant ourselves the space and time to go inwards, find relaxation and allow the past year to settle.

Here are some key thoughts around restfulness

-Permission, to be able to really rest we need to give ourselves full permission to do so, this means fully accepting that anything you feel is * urgent * can actually wait, fully accept with in yourself that the few hours you can carve out are for rest, and relaxation only.

-Screen-free rest, rest away from the stimulation of screens can also be important- especially If you’re job typically involves a lot of time looking at one- try turning your phone off for a few hours, and allow the pressure of being available 24/7 to dissipate

-Explore using a body-scan or yoga nidra to release tension through the body, the will allow you to drop into a state of relaxation, and the body-mind connection will stop firing messages that you should be doing something else

-Worthiness- affirm to yourself that you are entirely worthy of rest, that it is a birth-right to feel relaxed, calm, rested and that is key the flow of your life.

-Learn to say ‘no’ to things that will drain you more than they will fill you up.

-Explore different things that feel like ‘restful’ practises to you, such as spending time in nature, taking a bath, or even creating art without placing pressure on the outcome, or engaging in an energy healing practise.

If you’re looking to explore rest more deeply over the next couple of months, consider,

-Booking in for a Reiki session with me in Brighton, an opportunity for you to sink deeply into receiving gentle energy healing work.

-Booking in for a series of hypnotherapy sessions where we can explore; increasing your ability to relax, distance yourself from anxious or racing thoughts, and deepen into the belief that you are deeply worthy of restful practises, and learning to say no in your authentic voice
